Rushinon Wire Foxterriers

We  purchased our first wire Mac in 2003 from a backyard breeder here in Okla. We liked Mac's personality so much we sat out on  a search for a female to show.

 We finally found her! She was in another country. I thought my dream was to far away because I had never imported anything in my life and now I was trying to import a dog! Well, it was much easier than I had thought. Maggie did make it here when she was 3 1/2 months old.She had to have all of her shots and be tatooed before leaving her country. When Maggie arrived here she had to have her tail shortened and dew claws removed.  After her healing process I started taking her to training classes to show her. 

What I didn't know was the grooming part. I found out that these dogs are stripped (which means their hair is pulled out with your fingers and a metal type of knife with teeth in it to grasp the hairs). So, off to a grooming seminar I went. It was a two day event down in San Antonio, Tx with the infamous Sandy Paulson. I learned a lot in the two days, but not enough to do the grooming myself. So, thats when I ran into a lady named Jackie Thatcher at a show who was very good at stripping and showing as she had finished 10 wires herself. 

I asked her to show Maggie for me and  thats when it all started. Maggie went to stay with her so she could prep Maggie for the show ring. Maggie finished her Championship in a few short months. Then she came home to become a mother.

Maggie was bred the 1st time to Abe Lincoln and the second time to his brother Captain both were owned by Jackie Thatcher.

Our Goal

Is to breed true correct type wires either for the show ring or a beautiful pet. We will also strive to breed  free of genetic problems such as allergies, leggs perthes, and eyes.

Mac is plagued with all types of health problems. That are costly and will more than likely shorten his life span due to the medications he has to take to control his severe allergies.

I will not knowingly breed such a dog as I already know the heartache in having one from someone else.

Who We Are

We are an older couple with four Wire Fox terriers. We have had Wires since 2003. They are loved like our own children. We have two older dogs which are Mac and Maggie, two younger ones who are Haus and Willie. One shares our bed and the other ones sleep in our room in crates so they are near by. We are one Big happy family!
