We are new to the Wire Fox Terrier world. I purchase my
first Wire Fox Terrier in 2003. My first Wire Fox Terrier
came from a backyard breeder here in Oklahoma. Mac was
only six weeks old when we brought him home. I had him
housebroke by the time he was
12 wks old.
Mac was so easy to house break. He loved learning new
things. So, I decided to teach Mac a few tricks. He sit's,
lays, speaks, throws his ball, shakes and gives kisses.
I was so much in love with his personality. I decided that I
wanted one to show.
So, I set out on a search for a show female. I found her! She
was in another country. She was in Estonia. At first I
thought my dream was to far away, but alas things worked
out. Maggie is now here in the States with me.
Maggie has a personality to die for in a Wire Fox Terrier.
She is not snippy, and loves meeting new people. She is
very animated in her movement. She is the boss of this
house-hold and Mac knows it.
My first love of the dog world, were Bull-mastiff's. Some
of my Bull-mastiff breeding can still be seen in the show
rings today. Due to major back problems my
Bull-mastiffs were slowly fazed out. I was determined to
have another breed of show dogs. So, I searched for a
small dog with a big dog attitude! The Wire Fox Terrier....
Now, I would not have any other breed. I am totally
sold.....!!!!!
We are in good standing with AKC and belong to WFTCCS
and AFTC. I may be new to Wire Fox Terriers but, not new
to breeding fine correct dogs. My goal is to breed true to
AKC guideline standards in size, color, temperament, coat
and conformation.
Wire Fox Terrier's are not for everyone. They demand your
attention at all times. Wire Fox Terriers are a breed that
needs some type of grooming at least once a week. They are
extremely smart dogs. They can, and will get into trouble.
Wire Fox Terriers need to be walked on a "leash" at all
times.
For those looking for a canine that sheds very little, then
the Wire would be for you. However if you want a calm
canine then you might want something less active. If you
don't exercise them, then they will exercise themselves by
running all over the house, and up and over furniture. They
love playing fetch, and taking long walks. They are a
comical breed always doing things to make you laugh, or
sometimes cry. Depending on what they manage to get
themselves into. These dogs are a very smart breed.
If I can't answer your questions. I will certainly put you in
touch with someone who is much more knowledgeable than
I about the breed. I have learned a lot in the short time, but
there is always more to learn.
